Where you should place your swimming pool?
The location of the pool must first of all be comfortable and safe. The pool should not be built on an embankment, nor in places where there is groundwater. Avoid the proximity of trees because they will provide shade, and there will always be leaves in the water. In addition, the thick root system of some large trees can interfere with the facility.
The location should be protected from the wind as much as possible and should be exposed to the sun long enough, which will help warm the water. It is important to avoid proximity to sewer pipes, septic tanks, and electrical cables.
The place should be as secluded as possible, away from prying eyes. It is important that the pool is visible from the house, especially if you have children. If possible, the terrain should be flat because a steep one significantly increases the cost of construction.
What size your swimming pool should be?
The size depends on the size and shape of the yard and the location provided for the facility as well as the function of the pool. For a small yard, a pool of 18 sq.m. is completely sufficient. or 6 * 3 meters. For a medium-sized yard, it is appropriate for the pool to be between 20 and 30 sq.m. And for a large yard, the pool can have an area of 30 to 40 square meters. In the event that the space is quite limited, mini pools of 6 square meters with dimensions of 3 * 2 m. or 5 * 2 m can also be installed.
Regarding the depth of the pool – it depends on its function. The standard depth is from 120 to 180 cm, on average 150 cm. If the pool will be used by children, you should provide a shallow section for them.
Deep pools are more difficult to build and require more construction funds. The shape again depends on the location, with oval and rectangular shapes being the most common.
What equipment should your swimming pool have?
The equipment depends on your wishes, capabilities, and the type of pool. It is important to provide good lighting, which will ensure safe passage through the yard in the dark hours of the night and reduce the risk of accidents in the swimming pool. Lighting will also enable you to use the facility in the evening. Halogen spotlights for underwater lighting are the most common. LED lighting is also a good and economical option. When installing lighting fixtures, we should plan them so that they do not shine directly on the recreation area in the yard or the windows of the house.
Stairs and handrails will provide you with comfort and safety. The water effects will turn the pool into a very pleasant corner for relaxation and entertainment. These are water mushrooms, umbrellas, decorative fountains, and artificial waterfalls.

Swimming Pool water filtration is a must because it is related to your health. Water maintenance is carried out in three ways:
Mechanical maintenance – filtration, circulation
Disinfection, pH adjustment
Additional procedures – use of anti-algae preparations and others
Good mechanical filtration is the basis of clean water since maintenance with preparations is insufficient. However, the two methods should go hand in hand because each has its own function and are not interchangeable.
Disinfection with preparations ensures biologically clean water.
The pH of the water must be constantly controlled because the effect of the preparations used also depends on it, and it changes quickly, for example after rain or in prolonged heat.
Optimal pH values should be in the range 7.0 – 7.4.
The most common disinfectants are chlorine, bromine, and active oxygen. The most commonly used is chlorine, which is a proven product available in granule, tablet, or liquid form.
Salt electrolysis is a modern method of water purification without the use of chemicals. This is a process where electrical energy is used to cause a chemical reaction that produces chlorine. For this purpose, a small amount of salt is added to the pool – about 4 grams per 1 liter of water. This eliminates the need for the regular purchase and storage of chlorine products.
Designing the area around the swimming pool
The design of the area around the pool is important for the overall look of the yard, as well as for the comfort of its use. When planning the design, keep in mind that it must meet the following conditions:
- Do not allow rain or irrigation water to enter the pool
- To be safe – not to slide, not to have sharp edges, to allow easy exit from the pool
- To be convenient for maintenance and cleaning

Stamped Concrete often called textured or imprinted concrete,:
Stamped concrete is a process of pouring and placing high-strength, reinforced concrete, adding special colours to the surface, and then using concrete stamps designed from “real stone” molds to imprint the concrete to resemble natural brick, slate, cobblestone, tile, and even wood planks.
The absence of pores ensures water tightness, it is affordable, weeds-free, has an attractive appearance, and is easy to maintain, which makes it suitable outdoor flooring for your swimming pool. The variety of shapes, sizes, and patterns allows you to choose the most suitable model that will fit your exterior.
Pebbles Paving also known as exposed aggregate concrete, decorative concrete or granostone, is obtained by mixing concrete combined with exposed aggregate and then removing the outer ‘skin’ of the cement paste in order to uncover the decorative coarse aggregate.
Exposed aggregate concrete is an ideal alternative to traditional paving. Similar to Stamped Concrete, pebble paving will not get weeds as it is one slab of concrete, it is affordable, weeds-free, and easy to maintain.
Natural grass:
It is mainly used for small home pools. Natural grass fits perfectly into the general look of the garden, but the swimming pool will often get dirty after entering, so it will be difficult to maintain the water’s cleanliness. Also, the natural grass can dry from chlorine.
Artificial grass is also suitable for laying around the swimming pool, as it is trample-resistant, UV protected, highly resistant to rain, hot and cold weather conditions. It needs almost no maintenance. Blends perfectly with the exterior, and is also suitable for kids, as it is soft and protects against injury in case of a fall.
Natural wood (decking)
Decking gives a unique look to the swimming pool. For this purpose, special woods are used, which are resistant to moisture and atmospheric conditions – Teak, Iroko, Meranti, Billinga, Kempas. Because of their natural resins, they have protection against harmful microorganisms and rot very hard. They do not absorb chemicals, do not hold stains, and they are easy to clean.
Once a year, treatment with special impregnations is necessary, which protects the wood from mechanical and chemical influences and extends the life of the decking. The main disadvantage is the exotic wood high price.
